At our Winter Getaway, our welcome gift was all about PIRATES! ARRR MATEYS!! Over the next few months we will be sharing our Inspiration Board projects we created with paper and embellishments from the welcome gift. We hope you enjoy!
When I first heard pirate theme, I was a little reluctant!! Now I love this paper! I knew I had to use the octopus paper as a background!! As I looked out my layout, I knew it needed something – that’s when I decided that it looked like an Octopus’s garden!!! I had to add the sea grass with an anchor for the finishing touch.
This card was made with the Sizzix Framelits Flipits which was given to the 4 Crafty Hearts as a gift. I love these cards because of the way they open up. Even though it is busy with all the stripes I really think it turned out great.
This card started out as something totally different than it turned out to be. Originally I was going to try and do sideways banners, but that wasn’t working. So I tried covering the pieces and because of the way I had cut them with a diagonal slant, they looked like triangles. I wanted to use the anchors because they went with the colors of the strips. When I finished I didn’t want to put a stamp on the front because I thought it would take away from the design, so I stamped a design on the inside.
I loved this Octopus! He is so cute.
I bought this whale punch to go with the themed paper. I love the saying to match!
Finally ready to do my last card and no ideas!!!! I looked at the journal cards and saw walk the plank…. but nothing was coming to me. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking … I would… walk the plank … for you. When I tried to fit the journaling card – it wouldn’t work!!!! So I cut around it and added the words. I had to add the ship with the plank, lots of fussy cutting, but well worth it. It seems a little busy – but I had to add the skull paper.
